History of the Trust
The trust originated with Arthur Henry Foster, whom left in his will six houses (now flats) on Wake Green road , a maximum sum of £18,000 and land to build housing to the Trust in which his nephew and business partner Mr G.A.C Pettitt was chairman and principal officer of.
In 1930 due to only having six houses which two women would both occupy, the trust erected the ten bungalows. Later in 1968-69 the six Wake Green road houses were converted to flats (now known as 256-266A). In 1971, the Trust further expanded its properties adding six new bungalows(11-17 excluding number 13). In 1981, the first full-time Warden was employed and a Wardens house and Trust Office were erected. Later in 1989 a further 34 flats (known as Fosters) were erected. As of today the Trust still owns all of these properties. The properties are a available to single ladies aged fifty five and over. The Trust employs a full time Scheme Manager (Alma Farn) and a part-time Executive Officer (Jane Galvin).
